Wedding Cake Strain Background

Welcome back!  Today we are doing a Wedding Cake Strain Review.

The Wedding Cake strain is also known as Pink Cookies. This strain is a hybrid that is Indica dominant. As with most strains the history behind Wedding Cake is a bit cloudy. Some report that Wedding Cake is a cross between cannabis strains Cherry Pie and Girl Scout Cookies.

Creators of this strain Seed Junky Genetics have stated though that Wedding cake is actually a rare phenotype of the Triangle Mints cannabis strain. Therefore the Wedding Cake Strain was created when the breeders crossed a mother Triangle Kush plant with Animal Mints pollen.

This strain has become increasingly popular due to its potent but well-rounded effects which are incorporated into its recreational and medical uses. Wedding Cake is an absolute powerhouse and depending on the strain can have anywhere from 17-24% THC levels.

The Wedding Cake strain is also award winning. It won the coveted Leafly’s 2019 Strain of the Year award. It also won 2nd place in the Indica Flower category at the Seattle Cannabis Cup. As well as 2nd place under the Vape Pen and Cart category in the Oklahoma Cannabis Cup.

As a testament to Weeding Cake’s popularity it’s search presence has grew over 100 percent in year over yearinterest since the beginning of 2019.

Seeds of the Wedding Cake strain aren’t easy to find in commercial sale. Appearance

I am very excited to open up this tin. Smells good but let’s talk about the appearance first.

First impression is that Wedding Cake has a sort of import dusted trichomes look to it. The color of the buds to me is medium green. The buds are not dark or light, but you can just see quite a lot of trichomes are on it.

The batch we have here are trimmed real nicely, but the buds are on the smaller side in terms of how big buds get. But they all seem to be high quality.

Now I will go over the apperance as others have described since there are different strains of Wedding Cake and not all strains are alike.

The Wedding Cake strain is usually distinguished by its large, vibrant flowers. It’s buds are usually dense and bulbous as most Indica strains are. The buds are usually adorned by bright orange pistils and tightly curled leaves. There is also a high concentration of trichomes found on the buds that are responsible for this strain’s high THC levels and sticky resin texture.

The name “Wedding Cake” is attributed to it’s sparkling resin coat which as a result gives off the appearance of vanilla wedding cake frosting. This strain is also known as ‘Pink Cookies’ in reference to the pink and purple hues that highlight its buds.

Smell

As I mentioned eariler as soon as I opened the tin I got a wonderful smell. The smell comes out thick and fast. Initially I got a sweet and fruitiness smell aroma.

You get notes of all these different aromas mixing together. Wedding Cake has got a sweet aromatic essence and a fruity aroma as stated eariler. But the more you smell this strain a remarkable vanilla cake frosting aroma fills your nostrils. There’s like a deep sweetness with hints of vanilla so we definitely saw where this strain got it’s name.

The main terpene’s in this strain limonene (citrusy), caryophyllene (peppery), and myrcene (herbal) help give it’s aroma profile. Properly cured buds also have an earthy smell that blends a damp and mossy funk with citrus undertones. If you break apart these dank-smelling buds you will encounter a more alluring and sweet aroma, with tart and sugary qualities.

Taste

Now it’s time for my favorite portion of the Wedding Cake Strain review the taste.

Wedding Cake has a nice flavor profile. We got a very smooth tasting experience. As we did with the aroma we got hit with the sweetness almost vanilla like presence. The smoke was a bit harsh stinging our sinuses and throats with it’s acrid smoke and we will go over this a little more in the summary portion of the review. But on exhale we got a sweet and rich with a subtle creamy mouth feel. As the name says you could compare to the taste of cake.

From what we experienced on inhale we found a kind of tangy and sour experience that hit us in our taste buds. We got more of the creaminess, sugar, and vanilla flavors as the name implies on the exhale.

We also got little to no pungent or gassy flavor. Wedding Cake has got a real sort of sweet taste. It leaves this lovely sweet cakey taste in your mouth as well as the sweetness of cookies and the fruitiness of a cherry pie.

Effects

Now let’s talk about the effects of the Wedding Cake Strain. As mentioned before this strain is a phenotype of the triangle mince. So it is an indica dominant hybrid. It gives a good sort of a good, immediate sort of spiciness.

The Wedding Cake strain is known to have high THC levels therefore consuming the plant matter has been compared to ‘dabbing’ a concentrate. Straight away I knew this strain was strong as I felt chilled out immediately and at the same time was getting a head high. My head felt a little strange and made my sound perception a little off.

This strain is definitely potent. The effects are felt rather quickly after consumption. First thing effected is the mind. Some users may experience a high where their thoughts are fast paced and have an enhanced perception of their surroundings. In the correct environments feelings of euphoria and giddiness can accompany the user in this headspace.

While this may sound intense, a relaxation occurs soon afterword as other Indica dominant strains provide. During this relaxation period some users may experience a pleasant wave of warmth and heaviness that courses over their torso and limbs. Even while in the relaxation phase mental stimulation is still present which allows users to feel tuned in to their surroundings and scenarios.

This means that undertaking certain tasks such as reading, writing, and mild exercise can be performed while high. But it’s definitely not advised for any tasks that require a high degree of motor function and control such as cooking or drving a vehicle.

Wedding Cake Strain Review Summary

So what do I think of the wedding cake strain? This is a wonderful strain people. Wedding Cake is a good example of it from the appearance of the bud itself to the smell, the taste and the effects are all on point that makes it some really nice weed.

I really enjoyed smoking this strain. It’s definitely on the stronger side and has a lovely flavor profile through my bongs. It just delivers such a good hit that I will always go back to Eden.
