Today we are going to do a Super Silver Haze Strain review.

The Super Silver Haze strain is one of my personal favorites. I first tried it in Amsterdam in 2010 I believe. Since then I have tried to get my hands on it whenever I see it.

Super Silver Haze is perhaps the most award winning cannabis strain ever created. This strain won the coveted the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1997, 1998 and 1999.

This strain was created by the renowned Green House breeder Shantibaba. It was created by taking 50 percent Haze and mixing it with two other strains: the indica Northern Lights and the hybrid Skunk No. 1. Super Silver Haze Strain is considered by many people to be the most perect Sativa dominant hybrid cannabis strian. This is due to the combination of mental and physical effects.

Super Silver Haze was released sometime in the mid 1990’s. This hybrid was a hit with critics and customers alike. Even to this day it’s the only cannabis strain to win three consecutive Cannabis Cups.

Smell

As I said before Super Silver Haze is one of my favorite strains. Just the smell brings back many memories especially of Amsterdam for me. When opening the jar there is a strong smell. Smell is a mix of sweet and hazy and smells absolutely delicious! Each time I smell this strain I am like a kid in the candy shop.

This particular batch smells smells sweeter than the other phenotypes I had tried in the past. Smells more like someone is baking kinda of a buttery smell. Call me crazy but that’s just the perception of the smell that I got, very sweet.

Now I will go over what the common aromas people get with Super Silver Haze. This strain is known to have trong citrusy notes that are complemented by earthiness, skunk, and gasoline. The primary terpenes that appear in Super Silver Haze include pungent limonene and tropical myrcene. Some might be able to pick up on some traces of spicy beta-caryophyllene and the earthy alpha-pinene. Rule of thumb is that sharper and more pungent flavors are easier for users to detect when they ingest.

 

Appearance

Let’s take a look at what Super Silver Haze looks like.

First thing right off the bat is the trim job on these buds is really good. There are a few sporadic leaves dotted about, but they’re not being covered in crystals. So I am not going to have to pick anything off so I am rather going to enjoy this.

The buds are nice and big. They are covered with orange hairs. When exposed to light you can see lots of crystals. I mentioned in the smell that I got some sweetness and even looking at it I get a sweet look.

If you were wondering how Super Silver haze got it’s name all you have to do is look at it’s buds. The buds are loaded with sticky trichomes. It’s almost as if a spider is crawling all over these fantasic marijuana buds! you can definitely see the genetics of this strain coming through. You can see characteristics of both Northern Lights and haze. What we ended up with is a glistening, crisp, sweet looking really good hybrid strain!

 

Taste

I have been so excited for this part of the review. My mouth has literally been watering in anticipation.

Super Silver Haze produces an amazing flavor profile. I got a mouthful of citrusy, earthy, and spicy notes with every hit. The dominate taste for me was earthy myrcene. Followed by peppery caryophyllene. I also recieved high concentrations of limonene which also occupy these buds.

The taste I got was similar to what I have read and heard others recieved as well. Here is what others say. Super Silver Haze creates a herbal taste in your mouth that also has a bit of spiciness to it. This strain has a full bodied flavor with solid earthy vibes. Also mixed the flavor is a very prominent citrus note that leaves a fresh lemony aftertaste in your mouth. Some also say they get a citrus pine haze with some eucalyptus notes.

As mentioned before Super Silver Haze is most famous for its mix of citrus and skunk. When you actually taste this strain you will most likely get a hit of that distinctive Haze spice. Limonene, beta-caryophyllene, and myrcene are common terpenes found in the Super Silver Haze strain and you can definitely smell and taste them. Therefore this translates to pleasurable, sweet-tasting vapor that will have you excited for another hit.

Effects

In the past the Super Silver Haze strain has made me feel happy, lifted, euphoria, then energetic. Let’s see if this batch holds up to my past experiences.

This strain is heavy on Sativa. I was immediately happy with a really uplifting euphoric feeling. Also felt sort of energized. I definitely felt medicated but in a different way then from Indica. Sort of like floating around in a cloud not the tired kind of medicated.

I’ve found that from previous use the Super Silver Haze strain often provides a whirlwind of energy. All the while producing a calming, uplifting, clear-headed feeling of contentness. For this reason, I would easily consider this one of my favorite Sativa dominant hybrids to start the day or use during the day.

The high with Super Silver haze isn’t likely to make you feel all tensed up and jittery. Thanks to the indica effects of the Northern Lights strain, Super Silver Haze provides a bit of mellowing action to help you feel clear headed and calm. Therefore making it idea for day use.

As mentioned previously Super Silver Haze makes a superb daytime smoke, especially if your day requires long periods of focus. Take a hit of this strain and you can turn mundane tasks into opportunities to test your speed and efficiency.
