Gorilla Glue Strain Review
Gorilla Glue Strain Background
Welcome back, today we are doing a Gorilla Glue Strain Review. Today we have an organic version of gorilla glue that we will be reviewing.
The name of the strain Gorilla Glue comes from the the stickiness of it’s trichomes. The trichomes tend to glue scissors together during the trimming process hence the name Gorilla Glue.
It’s funny that this strain only came into existence by pure chance. The story goes Joesy Whales a cannabis breeder threw out the original seeds because his whole crop ‘hermied’ and ruined his entire crop. Luckily for all of us his friend Marrdog rescued a few of these original seeds. A year or two later he actually tried growing these seeds himself and was pleasantly surprised by his result.
So the Gorilla Glue strain was rescued from the brink of never existing to award winning. Gorilla Glue has won first place at both the Michigan and Los Angeles Cannabis Cups in 2014, as well as the High Times Jamaican World Cup.
Gorilla Glue is a codominant strain that contains 50% Indica and 50% Sativa. Due to this split this strain is very effective as a medical strain especially for those looking for pain relief and relaxation.

Appearance
Let’s talk about the appearance of the Gorilla Glue buds. At first glance it’s a really light green color. The bud is covered in densely packed trichomes and crystalline particles with some of the leaves and hairs sticking out. When picked up by hand it’s sticky to the touch as the name implies.
This bud has not been given a perfect trim most likely due to the stickiness of the trichomes. I could easily pick off the leaves though by hand.
The calyx on these buds are amazing looking. They are just stacked on top of each other and look like a sword coming out ofthe leaves.
The pistols are kinda hidden in the bud. They are dark green in color and look lovely. They have a different shape compared to most other strains which we have tried. But it has a natural look something that we like a lot.
I really like the look of Goriila Glue. It’s got these hints of a deep gold color along with the different shades of green that makethis strain pop in appearance.
Smell
Now let’s pop open the lid on this jar and get a whiff. First smell is a really dank pungency. Almost like a highly earthy scent. Getting deep inhales and the the body of the bud still smells pungent.
Other aromas I got were hnts of pine and other woody, earthy tones, that makes you feel like you are in the middle of a forest. Additionally we got hints of coffee and chocolate. This makes for a delicious combination of aromas.
Now let’s grind some up so we get ready to taste this bad boy and to see if we get any additional aromas. When ground up Gorilla Glue got even more pungent in my opinion. Didn’t really pick any additional aromas when grinding though.
So I would describe Gorilla Glue as pungent and earthy. Also has sour aromas combined with its fresh, piney flavour which are all attributes from its parent strains, Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel.
Taste
I have been really looking forward to tasting this strain and it was hard going over the appearance and taste as I just wanted to smoke this thing.
The flavor of Gorilla Glue is most commonly described as earthy, piney, and sour. First hit I got sort of pungent earthy note that was surprisingly smooth. Could be because we tried an organic strain but what we tried wasn’t too intense.
I have read others say that Gorilla Glue has a strong bold, coffee-like or chocolate flavor to it but we only got hints of both. Others describe this strain as mellow and even indistinguishable from other strains which could be due to it’s high THC content.
So to break down the taste from what I experienced and from what others have said the following should be a good guide. Gorilla Glues Sour Dubble genetics provide a sour apple taste. While it’s Chocolate Diesel heritage adds hints of gasoline and chocolate. Finally, Chem’s Sister gives the strain a slightly manufactured taste; but it is delightful overall.
This strain is really enjoyable and to me the taste was nice little bit sweet, but mainly pungent. The earthly piney notes are what come through with the organic gorilla glue that we tried.

Effects
Now let’s talk about the effects of the Gorilla Glue Strain. Since most of the Gorilla Glue strains are an even hybrid of Inidca and Sativa you can feel both strains effects. I guess I can say what I experienced was a mixture of euphoria and relaxation that’s coming in the form of a slight cerebral feeling. Head high is one of the things I remember most vividly.
This is a nice and sort of happy strain. I had a nice feel in my body, relaxed and just more sort of chilled out. Body feels good in terms of the strength of this strain recovered in trichomes. You will definitely feel the hybrid effects of Gorilla Glue as it’s a very poerful strain.
While I got slight hunger pangs I didn’t get the desire just to munch on anything. Maybe feeling engrossed is satiating enough.
Gorilla Glue Strain Review Summary
In conclusion this is a great strain and it was an absolute pleasure to review.
Gorilla Glue is popular and award winning strain for a reason. It has enough of everything to be a great cannabis strain. Has enough Indica to ease your pain and relax your muscles, but sativa enough to keep you awake and focused on the task at hand. This strain is also sticky and smelly enough to please all of your senses, but not quite strong enough to overwhelm and leave you anxious.
This Strain is definitely in my top 10. To be fair it could even actually be higher but I need to clean up and go over my list again. The appearance looked great despite the bud not being trimmed very well. The smell was dank, strong, pungent, and earthy. The taste was smooth and a real pleasure to smoke. The effects were right down the middle with Indica and Sativa both shining through.
Gorilla Glue remains one of the most potent strains in the world. Some strains of Gorilla glue can hit over 30% THC levels and average around 24 % THC. So it’s user beware and use with caution if you are newbie to intermediate marijuana user. Over doing it can cause paranoid thoughts and possibly panic attacks.
This strain is easy to grow and thrives in warm climates. Get the 100% FREE Grow Bible to learn how to grow your own Gorilla Glue plants from seeds.
It’s hard to find a strain that is loved by everyone but Gorilla Glue comes close and for that it should be applauded. And to think, this strain almost ended up in the trash bin.
