Welcome back, today are doing a AK-47 Strain Review. We will be going over this old school classic that is still very popular today. AK-47 is a Sativa dominate strain with a 65/35 split between Sativa and Indica. This strain is known as a one hit wonder since it consistently delivers over 20 % of THC.

Appearance

This bud has got a distinctly old-school, look and feel to it. The bud itself looks quite compact. When you sort of squeeze it though there is actually a lot of give to it.

There are a lot of pistols on this bud. But they’re not wild and sort of trying to escape. They are wrapped in on itself, wrapped around with the rest of the bud really really nicely.

I can see some trichome coverage here, but not as much as some of the other strains that I have reviewed recently. Actually this strain is consistent in terms of its shape and structure.

The coloration varies between white and orange patches along with light green and some darker green as well. The trim job is fantastic, can’t see any leaf in terms of the texture itself. It feels really old-school guys.

Unlike other newer strains, AK-47 doesn’t really have a thick layer of trichomes. This strain makes up for this with very large buds that some compare to bananas due to their shape and size. As mentioned eariler AK-47 sports light green buds with orange pistil hairs. Some phenotypes of this plant have been known to also turn shades of purple.

 
 

Smell

Now we are gonna go into the smell and find out better all the different fragrances and aromas that this sample of Bud has to offer.

Initial thoughts on smell is reminiscent of old school flavors. Reminds me of some one the first buds that I ever picked up and smelled. Just the aroma is giving me all sorts of nostalgia.

While all sorts of memories went through my head at first whiff the aroma doesn’t really smell like a specific strain at the moment. I got hints of skunk enos and hints of pungency.

When I ground up the AK-47 I got more of the skunk and pungency. It’s not a strong scent but the pungency is there and I also got some hints of sandalwood.

Looking at what others reported smelling I can summarize as  a dank, somewhat skunky and spicy aroma that thanks to citrus notes is also enticingly refreshing.

I didn’t get all that but I don’t have the best sense of smell. Overall I would say it just smells old school and a bit pungent. Kind of hard to describe fully but is pretty complex in my opinion.

 
 

Taste

AK-47 is one of the most highly rated strains in the world. Despite it’s name this strain has a smooth feeling when smoking. Also detected many complex flavors while using it.

The many complex flavors of AK-47 are another reason why so many love this strain worldwide. This strain has sweet earthy tones mixed in with tastes of
rubber, floral notes and hints of wood.

On inhale, the taste buds are stunned by a mixture of skunk, pepper, diesel, and citrus. AK-47 flavors are easy to notice. They start with sweet, earthy Kush accents. Then in the middle is dominated by sweet tastes of rubber. Finally it’s finished off with hints of sandalwood.

Effects

Now let’s talk about the effects of AK-47 as they hit me hard and fast.

It definitely gives me a cerebral feeling. So in my brain, I feel like I’ve woken up a little bit. Which is really really nice going from feeling groggy to feeling like I’ve woken up a bit.

I was happy that it didn’t totally relax me as I have read and heard it does to others. The best way to describe the bodily feeling I guess would to say I felt a bit stunned. Which probably came from the Indica side of the genetics.

What I have read and heard others say is that it makes one feel uplifted, peaceful, and creative. Other reviews have said AK-47’s high is markedly uplifting and joyous. This strain is also seeked out for its ability to stimulate creativity. The body high is subtle but can create a tingly feeling under the skin.

A lot of AK-47 users get somewhat addicted to this strain dues to it’s relaxing effect that helps them relieve stress and anxiety. Also it has been stated AK-47 helps with chronic pains and aches as well as insomnia.

I would say to take AK-47 with caution if you are a new to intermediate user. Otherwise AK-47 is notorious for causing dry mouth, Red eyes, lightheadedness, and even paranoia if too much is consumed.

 
 

AK-47 Strain Review Summary

AK-47 is a beautiful mix of Colombian, Mexican, Thai, and Afghani strains. And all those strains seem to bring something to the table.

The buds from this strain look really good. AK-47 sports nice colors as it grows. Has a lime green bud that contrasts with it’s orange pistil hairs. Therefore in my opinion giving this plant a classic look.

AK-47 has a pungent but enjoyable aroma of wet soil, along with zesty hints of pine and wood at the end. This dank mixture is skunky and spicy with a layer of citrus on top.

This strain definitely takes me back to the old days where I didn’t know much about marijuana. Really old school vibe to AK-47 as it has a delicious and enjoyable flavor with tastes of earthiness, floral notes, and hints of wood.. I wish I could get the orignal strains used to make AK-47 so I could see what the original flavors tasted like. That way I get could a better sense of AK-47 as a whole. But maybe that’s best for another review in the future.

The overall effects of the AK 47 strain can best be described as uplifting and relaxing. This strain can also offer relief for those experiencing anxiety or a lot of stress. It is also used by creative people to focus more and to capivate inspiration. The buzz from AK-47 usually lasts 3-4 hours which makes it perfect for realxing the body and mind.
